First sit on top kayak now made from composite
Tim Niemier here. I designed my first sit on top kayak in 1971 and used to dive, surf, and cruise with it.
This is the new kayak that does the same stuff. Faster and sleeker with big hatches for dive tanks and other gear--and little more gray hair.
When the south swell hit Malibu we surfed Little Dume off of Point Dume.
Now I made a new kayak like the original but out of this new material called thermo lite composite that only weighs 43 pounds. It doesn't stink like the fiberglass did and it is recycleable. The flanges that attach the two halves keep the spray down very well.
The new boat paddles really well and beat a bunch of sea kayaks in a race a few weeks ago.
This boat surfs just like the old one in smaller waves. I can't wait to get out in the big stuff.
Here is the new logo. The website is www.pacifikayaks.com, but we're working on a new one. It is like deja vu all over again.
Design Your Own Kayak
Hi, Tim Niemier here. I started Ocean Kayak and sold it years ago, but still addicted to new kayak and SUP designs. This is my first blog in case it looks weird.
We can make you your own kayak design in only 8 weeks. You can start your own company if you want or just use them for yourself. www.onwaterdesigns.com
We did this project for www.diablopaddlesports.com a short time ago and made them 12 showroom kayaks/SUP's in just 8 weeks. They use them in Texas for fishing. I can walk all over the kayak and stand up cast of paddle with ease. I don't think there is another kayak as stable. First we made this little scale model and use it to input information into the computer for CAD or Computer Aided Design. This process is great for test marketing because it is such a good deal.
